Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi hit Jersey Freeze at Freehold

Jersey music royalty have visited Jersey Freeze.

Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi visited the Jersey Freeze landmark in Freehold Township on Wednesday, October 5. They rolled into Springsteen’s sports car alone and ordered two cones: sprinkles for Bon Jovi and chocolate dip for Springsteen.

The two stayed for about 10 minutes and took a photo with Jersey Freeze owners Matt Cangialosi and Katie DiNonno.

Springsteen is a regular at Jersey Freeze and has frequented the place since he was a kid with his family.

“It was Matt and I’s first picture with (Springsteen) – we don’t usually bother him when he comes over,” DiNonno said. “But today it was both – there’s no way. I take a picture. It was fun.”

The Boss asked fans who was a fan of Jersey Freeze during an August 2016 concert at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.

“Who went to Jersey Freeze? Springsteen asked. “We stopped there and it was much smaller. They had no hot dogs or burgers. They only sold ice cream and they sold two kinds: one was chocolate and the other was vanilla. Just soft serve ice cream was all you could have. When I was a kid, I didn’t like chocolate or vanilla, I just liked cones. So the guy used to save all the broken cones for me.

Carlton Blackmore, the first owner of Jersey Freeze, died in 2016 at the age of 99. Cangialosi and DiNonno carry on the tradition.
