1. Resetting the Windows security application via the taskbar

The Windows security application is probably having problems because something has changed in its settings. It could be something you did or the work of malware. Either way, resetting its settings can make it work again, and using the taskbar is one of the easiest ways to achieve this.

Click on the Search bar in the Taskbar and type “Windows Security”. This will make the Windows Security application appear as the best match in the search results. Then click on Application settings.

In Settings, click on the Reset button. Confirm the action by clicking Reset again. Keep in mind that this will erase the data from the Windows Security application. This means that all of your preferences and sign details will be gone, bringing the app to a clean slate.

You can also reset the Windows Security application using the built-in Windows PowerShell. Type “PowerShell” in the Search bar and click on Windows PowerShell to launch the application.
