HAMMOND, Louisiana – The University of Southeast Louisiana baseball team faces a pair of midweek challenges, traveling to Mobile, Alabama for a 6:30 p.m. game at Stanky Field against South East Louisiana. Alabama and returning to Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field to host Troy at 6 p.m. Wednesday. .

Ahead of Wednesday’s home game, SLU Athletics Marketing partnered with Southeastern SGA and the Dukes of Hammond coterie to host a baseball party. Free food, garden games, giveaways and more start at 3:45 p.m.

The games against South Alabama (16-10) and Troy (18-9) will both be shown on ESPN+.

Fans in the Hammond area can also listen on the Southeastern Sports Radio Network’s flagship station – KSLU 90.9 FM – in addition to being online at and through the Lions Gameday Experience, Mixlr and MyTuner apps. Southeastern (10-18) has won its past two games, earning a Southland Conference Series victory over UIW in San Antonio, Texas last weekend.

Field Artigues (.283), Shea Thomas (.281) and Preston Faulkner (.279) look southeast at the plate. Faulkner leads the team with 17 extra hits, including seven Southland-leading home runs and 25 RBIs. Tyler Finke and Evan Keller are tied for team highs with 10 stolen bases apiece. Rhett Rosevear is the national leader of HBP (19) while SLU ranks third nationally as a team (64).

Southern Alabama has lost its last five games, including being swept at Georgia State in a Sun Belt conference series last weekend.

Miles Simington (.420), Hunter Stokes (.311), Charles Middleton Jr. (.306) and Erick Orbeta (.302) are the Jaguars’ best hitters. Simington and Santi Montiel both drove in 13 more hits with Stokes just one behind them. Montiel’s six homers are the best on the team and Simington is averaging more than one RBI (29) per game. Will Turner leads the team with eight stolen bases.

Troy split four games last week, dropping his final two games in a Sun Belt home series against Little Rock.

Trey Leonard (.364), William Sullivan (.290) and Jesse Hall (.287) are the Trojans’ best hitters. Easton Kirk paces the team with 11 extra hits, including four home runs, a team high. Rigsby Mosley leads the team with nine stolen bases.

Southeastern hosts Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a three-game Southland Conference series this weekend at the Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field. Playing hours are 6 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday as part of Super Lion Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.


Single tickets are on sale for the remainder of the regular season. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance to minimize queues on match days. South East students are encouraged to contact the box office prior to the game to reserve theirs in advance.

General admission tickets are $9 for adults and $6 for youth (ages 3-12). Students from the South East, with a university ID, and children under 2 years old are admitted free. Gameday parking is $5 per day for standard vehicles and $25 for RVs.
