The Sycamore class spans 10 states and seven position groups as the state of Indiana has added talent from across the country to the list. The Indiana State class included four Illinois players, while Indiana (2), Florida (2), Kentucky (2), Ohio (2) and Iowa (2) had also several athletes signed to join the Sycamores in the class.

The Indiana State coaching team hit the defensive side of the ball hard in the recruit class, with 13 of 18 players coming in on the defensive side of the ball. The ISU class also relied heavily on young people with 12 real freshmen signing into the class, while six transfers will join the ranks this coming year.

“Defensively we’ve been able to get a lot of qualified positions in this class, mostly in high school, but I also like the linebackers and defensive linemen that we brought in and feel like they can. all have an impact, ”Mallory said. “Last year was more about offense, not design, but we still had an impact on that side of the ball in the inside line, as well as with the additions in our quarterback rooms, d tight end and wide receivers. “

Overall, Mallory was happy with the signing class and looks forward to what they bring to the roster over the next year or so.

“I think we’ve really hit what we need to do in that first signing period,” Mallory commented. “Our intention is always to recruit first here in the Wabash Valley, as well as to hit Illinois and Indiana really hard. From there we hit the surrounding states and got where we needed to go. Thank you. to our recruitment coordinator Tyler funk for leading it and our coaches put on a good recruiting class. “

The Sycamores will announce their spring training dates at a later date. The state of Indiana has already announced the 2022 non-conference schedule with the home opener scheduled for Thursday, September 1 against North Alabama.
