A Crystal Lake man has been arrested after he allegedly spat at a nurse and then punched a security guard at Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry.

Cody M. Behrens, 28, of the 2700 block of Walkup Road in Crystal Lake, was charged with aggravated battery against a nurse, a Class 2 felony and battery, a Class A misdemeanor.

A criminal complaint alleged that Behrens assaulted a nurse at the hospital by spitting in her face.

The complaint says Behrens also punched a male security guard twice in the chest with his hand.

The incident happened on July 30, according to court records.

The nurse and security guard were not injured.

Officers from the McHenry Police Department responded and arrested Behrens around 12:55 a.m. on July 31.

McHenry County Judge Mark Gerhardt ordered the man be held on $20,000 bail.

Behrens was released from McHenry County Jail after posting 10% of his $20,000 bond last Monday.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 14.
