native of Azle named civilian non-supervisor of district for Naval Station Great Lakes | Local News

Alyshia Nettles, of Azle, has been named a non-supervisory civilian of the Great Lakes district.

Nettles works as a Security Assistant for NSGL’s Security Department at the Visitor Control Center.

As a Security Assistant, Nettles has worked in Great Lakes since January 2021 and was on active duty in the Navy for eight years prior. She has her associate degree in history. Nettles’ day-to-day work directly impacts base access for all base personnel – military and civilian – as well as visitors. Through diligent management, she manages and coordinates the verification of more than 1,200 companies requiring access to the database, performs background checks and issues identification documents and passes.

Nettles’ attention to detail recommended several changes to the facility’s access control program to include more effective verification and identification requirements and procedures, document control and agent validation trusted for accurate recordings. She also performed self-checks and identified issues, making changes to mitigate inspection shortcomings and prevent recurrences.

“Ms. Alyshia Nettles has proven to be an extremely valuable asset to Command, going above and beyond the scope of her duties to ensure Command succeeds in all endeavors in which she is involved,” Roger said. Raimondi, NSGL Assistant Security Officer “Whether it’s supporting orders for tenants with VCC issues or ensuring background checks go smoothly, Ms. Nettles prioritizes the success of order and make that success happen.”
