A new Five nights at Freddy’s board game titled night of fears and created by Funko Games, will put players in control of the franchise’s terrifying animatronics. Most entries in the beloved survival horror franchise see players attempting to survive five nights at Freddy Fazbear’s, a family pizza joint haunted by bloodthirsty animated characters. The latest version of the series, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach, moved to a free-roaming structure with players able to explore a mall called the Mega Pizzaplex. However, Five Nights at Freddy’s: The Night of Scares will bring an even bigger touch to the franchise formula.
First released in 2014, the original Five nights at Freddy’s quickly inspired a series of sequels and a massive multimedia franchise. Early games in the series have players sitting idle in a security office while monitoring surveillance cameras and operating large security doors. As the nights progress, the series’ large roster of disturbing characters like Chica, Foxy, and Freddy Fazbear himself attempt to enter the office and kill the player, who must defend themselves with the doors. However, 2021 Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach drastically changed this formula by allowing players to walk around and use stealth to avoid bloodthirsty cartoon creatures. FNaF: security breach also introduced Glamrock Freddy, a friendly animatronic who helps the player on their journey.
A recently announced Funko Games project titled Five Nights at Freddy’s: The Night of Scares will allow fans to truly control the franchise’s iconic animatronic nightmares. The disturbing tabletop game will require players to sneak around Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, gather items, and successfully “capture” the restaurant’s security guard. Packaged in a themed pizza box, the tabletop title will allow players to become Bonnie, Chica, Foxy and Freddy Fazbear using detailed painted game pieces. Using their unique abilities, each murderous character will fight to scare off the competition while collecting delicious pizzas and cakes. Five Nights at Freddy’s: Night of Frights lets players become monsters
Whereas FNaF: security breach included Glamrock Freddy, Five Nights at Freddy’s: The Night of Scares will be the first game to allow players to directly control the franchise’s animatronic antagonists. While the terrifying performers are considered the icons of the survival horror series, players have never been able to control them and experience the gameplay from their perspective. Security Breach gets closer, allowing players to hide in Glamrock Freddy and use him to solve puzzles, but night of fears will take players from hunted to hunted by letting them hunt down Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza and attack the restaurant’s security guard.
So far the Five nights at Freddy’s the franchise exclusively played humans, and the next Security Breach Downloadable Content Ruin seems to be following suit, which will make night of fears a truly unique experience. Rather than hiding from the series’ beloved murderous creatures, the Funko Games tabletop title will let players become themselves in a competitive board game setting. With colorful detailed figures and a themed pizza box, Five Nights at Freddy’s: The Night of Scares promises to deliver an authentic Fazbear experience in 30 minutes or less.
