New Qld Covid Restrictions: Explanation of Brisbane Rules Update and Qld Regional Coronavirus | Queensland


The Queensland government has relaxed some restrictions, but Acting Prime Minister Steven Miles said Thursday, July 22, that others should remain in place to help limit transmission.

In the rest of Queensland, people are encouraged to wear masks but it is not obligatory. If you have been in the three day lockout areas in the past 14 days, you should always wear a face mask with you.

What are the limits of gatherings and events?

Starting Friday, July 23, the limit for indoor gatherings will be 100 people statewide.

Indoor funerals and weddings are limited to one person per two square meters, or 200 people, or 100% of the venue’s capacity with seats allocated per ticket, whichever is greater.

There is no number limit for outdoor weddings or funerals.

There are restrictions on stadiums and sporting events. Any stadium with a capacity of more than 20,000 seats is capped at 75% of its capacity.

Are the businesses open?

Stores, restaurants, cafes, cinemas, gyms, beauty services and other businesses may operate subject to density limits and Covid safety rules, listed here.

The dance floors are open again from Friday July 16 and the number of customers is three people per four square meters.

As of July 9, using a Covid registration app is mandatory for many businesses.

Elderly care facilities

From Friday July 23, restrictions on elder care visits will be lifted.
