Kota Kinabalu: The newly formed 503 Squadron will be under the command of Air Base Kota Kinabalu (SUKK), led by Defense Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein at the Royal Malaysia Navy (RMN) base in Sepanggar, near here, Friday.

Hishammuddin said the establishment and inauguration of the 503 Squadron and SUKK followed the acquisition of three AW139 helicopters, two of which were handed over to the RMN on Friday. “The AW139 helicopters produced by Leonardo Helicopter Italy are the latest assets of the RMN, purchased specifically to improve the operational capability of the RMN, in particular to preserve the security and sovereignty of Sabah.
