Qatar Rail Cyber ​​Security Operations Center ready for World Cup

Doha: As part of its preparation to provide a safe travel experience for fans of the 2022 World Cup, Dr. Abdulla bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, Managing Director and CEO of Qatar Railways (Qatar Rail) company visited the new Qatar Rail Cybersecurity Operations Center (SOC).

During his visit, Al Subaie was briefed on the main tasks and functions of the new center. He was also introduced to a cybersecurity attack test model and how the center deals with and responds to these attacks in real time.

On the sidelines of the visit, which was also attended by a number of representatives from Qatar Rail and Malomatia, Al Subaie acknowledged the team members who led the project for their efforts and valuable contribution.

The Cybersecurity Operations Center was recently established by Qatar Rail in collaboration with Malomatia, a leading provider of technology services and solutions. The establishment of the center is aligned with Qatar Rail’s strategy to improve the cybersecurity readiness of its operating systems by implementing state-of-the-art technology to monitor cyberattacks and respond to possible cybersecurity threats.

On this occasion, Qatar Rail’s Chief Information Officer, Aisha Al Rumaihi, said: “The Cybersecurity Operations Center is an important addition to our cybersecurity infrastructure at Qatar Rail. The Cybersecurity Operations Center is one of the National Cybersecurity Agency’s (NCSA) core compliance requirements and it plays a central role in cybersecurity readiness by protecting our systems and increasing our resiliency before the onset of cybersecurity. the 2022 World Cup.”

She added: “The risk of cyberattacks increases during major events such as the World Cup, the SOC deploys state-of-the-art technology to monitor cybersecurity threats and respond in real time to address and resolve all possible threats that may target the Qatar Rail network. .”

The SOCs team is constantly working around the clock (24/7) to monitor threats and respond to them as effectively as possible.
