The global launch of SmartThings Home Life and the update of Family Hub connects users around the world to an ecosystem of smarter living solutions that expand their home living experience.

June 7, 2022 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the global launch of SmartThings Home Life, bringing consumers around the world a more holistic smart home experience. Samsung’s SmartThings Home Life, showcased at this year’s Bespoke Home 2022 show, is set to launch in 97 countries later in June.

The service is a new addition to the SmartThings app[1] [2] which provides centralized and integrated control over your Samsung devices[3]. Connecting the convenience of six SmartThings services (SmartThings Cooking, Energy, Clothing Care, Pet Care, Air Care, and Home Care)[4] [5], SmartThings Home Life improves the quality of your home life and puts you in control, all from your smartphone. In the SmartThings app, simply tap the “Life” tab to access SmartThings Home to unlock a new level of home connectivity. With 270 global partners and the ability to integrate with thousands of devices, SmartThings is currently used by nearly a quarter of a billion registered users.[6]. Additionally, Samsung’s updated Family Hub™, available in July, further adds to an expanded experience at home with its new AI features that add convenience to your daily routine.

“Our goal is to harness connectivity between smart devices to enrich and streamline daily routines,” said Chanwoo Park, executive vice president and group leader of IoT Business in Samsung Electronics’ Digital Appliances business. “The global launch of SmartThings Home Life will expand our services and allow users around the world to focus less on day-to-day tasks and more on life in every moment.”

Delivering smarter and more seamless experiences, SmartThings Home Life integrates the following six SmartThings services.[7]

SmartThings Kitchen

SmartThings Kitchen[8] is a cooking service that does everything from finding recipes and auto-tuning appliances to managing grocery lists and storing food[9]. Powered by Whisk’s Food AI, SmartThings Cooking recommends personalized recipes and meal plans based on users’ tastes, dietary needs, and groceries on hand. Whether users defrost frozen meats with a barcode or shop through the Whisk network[10]SmartThings Cooking communicates directly with all Samsung smart kitchen appliances[11]like Family Hub, ranges, ovens and cooktops for a seamless cooking experience.

SmartThings Energy

Support for virtually any product[12] in the kitchen, living room and laundry room, SmartThings Energy allows users to control their energy consumption by providing real-time information on where and how energy is used in the home. By analyzing the energy used by devices and devices connected to the SmartThings platform, SmartThings Energy reports monthly energy consumption and predicts future energy consumption using AI. Thanks to the AI Saving mode[13], SmartThings Energy will also automatically enable power saving mode on connected home devices, helping to reduce energy bills and carbon footprint. The new Bespoke AI washing machine and dryer[14] will soon be added to SmartThings Energy’s range of devices in the second half of this year, before expanding to even more connected devices around your home. Samsung’s Zero Energy Home pilot project, developed in conjunction with Q-CELLS to empower homes to be energy self-sufficient, is expected to install the Zero Energy Home system in 30 homes of the ongoing Etopia project in the near future. Going forward, the program will expand to implement the system in even more homes, combining the power of SmartThings Energy solutions with Q CELLS’ solar panel and energy storage systems.

SmartThings Clothing Care

SmartThings Clothing Care connects all your clothing care devices, such as Bespoke Dryer, Bespoke AirDresser, Bespoke ShoeDresser[15], and all AI washers, for optimal garment management with services tailored to your lifestyle. The service offers customized care options based on the material types of your garments. Plus, SmartThings Clothing Care offers actionable AI recommendations based on usage patterns and the current season, and reminds you to buy laundry products regularly to keep your clothes fresh and your laundry room stocked.[16]

SmartThings Pet Care

Now pet owners can look forward to caring for their furry friends, even when they’re away from home. When a pet is home alone, SmartThings Pet Care automatically plays music or TV shows[17], giving them a sense of security and companionship. You can even keep an eye on your pets[18] remotely by accessing the smart camera of your Bespoke Jet Bot AI+. Plus, by adjusting settings for appliances like lights, air conditioners, air purifiers, and more, you can make your home more comfortable and safer for your pet while you’re away.

SmartThings Air Care

SmartThings Air Care[19] keeps you up to date with important information about the air quality inside and outside your home. Now you can enjoy air quality monitoring and purification in one place as it provides centralized control of your custom air conditioner, custom air purifier[20] and more[21].You can breathe easy knowing your air at home is fresh and clean with SmartThings Air Care.

SmartThings Home Care

SmartThings Home Care keeps tabs on all connected Samsung home appliances, including Bespoke appliances, by checking their status and usage patterns, providing accessory information and enabling convenient online shopping. This service sends notifications and guides users on regular maintenance based on collected usage data, such as cleaning each device and replacing specific components. By letting SmartThings take care of your home, you can fix appliance problems independently without relying on a repairman for simple tasks.

Family Center

Since its launch in 2016, Family Hub has been continuously updated to bring the latest connected experiences to Samsung fridge users, transforming fridges into kitchen communication and entertainment hubs. Additionally, the Family Hub doubles as a home control for the SmartThings app. In its latest update launched in July, Family Hub’s new features deliver even more entertainment, smart features and kitchen connectivity. For example, Smart Reorders[22] helps consumers easily order and replace water filters. Users can be entertained while they cook because the Samsung TV Plus[23] allows users to enjoy a variety of live TV programs including news, music, kids and food channels. Atelier lets households decorate their kitchens and fridge displays with stunning artwork, while Dual AI Voice Assistant lets consumers access Amazon’s Alexa features.[24] and Samsung’s Bixby on one device. Family Hub’s enhanced food recognition technology[25] allows for better identification and management of food and beverages, and smart recipes allow bespoke at-home users to create delicious meals with easy-to-follow instructions.
