TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Indiana State Women’s Golf Program is set to kick off the spring portion of its 2021-22 season at the Benbow Invitational held at the Jacksonville Beach Golf Club (Par 71, 6,021 yards) in Jacksonville, Fla. .
The 36-hole tournament will be played March 7-8 with a tee shot at 9 a.m. each day. The 14-team tournament field includes Butler, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Michigan, Evansville, IUPUI, Monmouth, Purdue Fort Wayne, Radford, Savannah State, Troy, Valparaiso, Western Illinois and Western Michigan.
Hosted by Butler University, the tournament is named for the late Don Benbow, who was inducted into the Butler Athletics Hall of Fame for his contributions as an outstanding football student-athlete, coach golf and football, and his time at Butler as an athletics administrator.
The Sycamore Line is Featured in the MVC All-Conference Selection Lawrence Green coming out of a solid fall. Madison Branum, Kristen Hobbs, Iyoun Chew and Chelsea Morrow complete the five Sycamore on the scoreboard. The two freshmen Molly Lee and Grace Welty will compete individually against the field.
“Our training over the past month and a half has been exceptional, especially with the addition of two state-of-the-art simulators which have given us the opportunity to adapt to clubs and get real-time data. on our swings”, the head coach Greg City Noted. “Women love technology, and it’s helped them understand their swings so much more than just a movie.”
“All seven members of the team will travel in the first tournaments,” Towne continued. “We have a competitive group and I’m giving everyone a chance to prove their abilities and qualify for the conference championship.”

The Benbow Invitational is the first of four tournaments the ISU will participate in during the month of March before hosting the Indiana State Invitational at the Terre Haute Country Club from April 2-4.
