Sycamores in the NFL – Week 17

Seth Montgomery |

HIGH EARTH, Ind. Jonas griffith continues to make the most of his starting opportunities as the former Indiana State linebacker highlights the Sycamores in the NFL in Week 17.

Griffith got his third straight start as linebacker for the Denver Broncos on Sunday afternoon and the first-year pro led the team in tackles for the second time in the last three games. Griffith tied teammate Micah Kiser with a record 12 tackles (five solo), while adding a tackle for the loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

He had seven tackles in the first half to punctuate the Broncos’ defense. Griffith followed up with a pair of losing half-tackles in the Chargers’ first practice of the third quarter to mark his day.

Dominique dafney joined his former ISU teammate on the field as the second-year pro lined up for the Green Bay Packers both tight and on special teams. Dafney was unable to achieve his only goal in the Packers’ 37-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings, which saw Green Bay take the field advantage and become the head of NFC series # 1 for the playoffs.

Griffith and the Broncos kick off the final week of the NFL regular season as Denver hosts the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. ET with the kickoff on ESPN. Dafney and the Packers travel to the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon with the kickoff at 1 p.m. on FOX.
