Three Outstanding Days at Subcon 2022 Celebrating 45 Years as the Premier Outsourcing Supply Chain Show


Subcon returned to the NEC, Birmingham on the 7the – 9e June 2022. The 45e The celebration of the event did not disappoint, from busy stalls to engaged conference sessions and even free cream teas to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the show encapsulated the optimism and successes of the ‘industry.

Visitor numbers have seen a massive 30% increase from 2021. Co-location with The Engineer Expo and Manufacturing Management Show has meant visitors have plenty to discover, with over 200 international and UK exhibitors allowing visitors to find solutions and discover new products. The sense of success was also reflected by exhibiting companies with 50% having already booked their stand for next year and 10% upgrading their stand size.

A spokesperson for exhibitor Ash Technologies said: “We’ve generated many new leads from companies we’ve never seen before, or companies we’ve tried to get into in the past but we didn’t make it.”

Another DVR exhibitor added:Subcon is always the highlight of our year due to the quality of leads we get and the team here really cares about you. I’m already looking forward to next year!”

Shaping the Future: Free Conference Sessions with All-New Supply Chain Theater

This year, Subcon also hosted two parallel conference streams over the three days of the show, sponsored by sustainability leaders, Inenco. The Engineer Expo and Manufacturing Management Show Theater were hosted by leading magazines The Engineer and Manufacturing Management. Featuring speakers such as Rhys Herbert, Senior Economist at Lloyds Bank and Dave Swan, Chief Technology Officer at Tharsus Group, this theater gave visitors an insight into the key issues and trends driving innovation and shaping the UK’s industrial landscape. United in 2022.

New for 2022, the all-new Supply Chain Theater was also a big hit, providing usable and actionable solutions on-site on everything from smart technology implementation and security, to workforce development. and upon reaching net zero. With speakers from IBM, Alliance Procurement Solutions and Vendigital, there was something for everyone.

Other highlights of the event:

  • Jubilee celebrations: Subcon added some extra spice for the Queen’s 70e Jubilee celebrations! With streamers around the show and free cream teas, visitors made the most of the festivities.
  • Qimtek Sponsored Buyers Show: VIP visitors were treated to exclusive access to a Buyers Lounge, allowing for dedicated networking and key discussions.
  • Chatty Hatter Live Podcast: Subcon was thrilled to be backed by Chatty Hatter, who ran their live podcast takeover (That Engineering Chat). Chatty Hatter will be sharing the lively and informative podcasts that were recorded live on the show over the next few weeks!
  • Subcon Celebrates Major MAB Journals: Subcon is backed by many of the most prominent manufacturing and engineering journals that were on display at this year’s show. With The Engineer, Manufacturing Management, Machinery, FAST and Made In Ireland to name a few, it was fantastic to see the support of the Mark Allen Business titles and to be part of this leading voice within industry.

Next year, along with the Engineer Expo and the Manufacturing Management Show, the Advanced Manufacturing Show will also be presented. The highly anticipated return and 4e edition of the semi-annual Advanced Manufacturing Show will showcase advanced machinery technologies, cutting tools, work holding devices and manufacturing equipment needed by an audience of manufacturing production professionals. This is an event dedicated to buyers so that they can evaluate the latest manufacturing technologies on the market to make their investment and purchase decisions.
